It’s the most, wonderful tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime of the yeeeeear! Turkey. Stuffing. Potatoes. Veggies. Gravy. Cranberries. Fresh sage. Family. OMG! Thanksgiving will always and forever be my Christmas. Southern Style Black-Eyed Peas with Hamhocks

My boyfriend hates black-eyed peas. I don’t blame him. Just about everywhere you go, you find the same gritty, muddy textured peas sitting in a thick, pasty gravy that ends up looking grey and unappealing. Growing up, I’ve always eaten a version of this soup that looked more like a bowl of watery cheese with a few sad chunks of broccoli florets tossed in. I’ve always thought that was how broccoli-cheese soup was supposed to look, as well as taste. That turned out to be pure horsepucky.

Chinese BBQ Shrimp and Grits

My goodness. Just look at this. Makes absolutely no sense. I’m sure you’re ready to kick your standard shrimp and grits recipe up a few notches, right? This isn’t a bad way to start. This was really good, and if I recall, we immediately snuggled up afterward and took an epic nap. It was raining outside, so this was the perfect bowl of warmth and love, but with flair.
