A Pink Nightmare

I’ve been using an incredibly incompetent food processor by Black & Decker for about 4 years now. It quickly went from good to bad, fast. I just figured I’d put up with it for as long as I could before I voted on a new one. Well, that time has come. I recently said “To hell with this raggedy ass food processor” after trying to do something as simple as creating pizza dough, and it couldn’t even do that without stalling! I immediately began doing price research for the KitchenAid 750 12 Cup Food Processor — which is highly favored among many people in the culinary world that I trust. I’ve wanted this machine for a very long time, but it was also technically discontinued. Womp. However, the last few that are floating around are still going for $150 to $200 dollars. We’re in a recession…I wanted this food processor, but I wasn’t about to spend that much for it right now (although I knew it’d be worth it). I simply didn’t have that kinda money set aside for a food processor, and this was an impulse buy lol. I needed this machine now and I needed it fast.

I scoured the internet looking for the lowest price, and I came across Buy.com. They had this baby for sale in red for $121. I said to myself, “Ok cool, I’ll buy this first thing tomorrow”. Well, needless to say “first thing tomorrow” indeed came, and this machine was sold out. Whaaaat…

Color me pissed off. If I wasn’t so brown, you’d be able to see how red I was.

I wanted this machine in either red, black, chrome, or white…hell I would have taken blue or green…but I missed out. For shame.

Then I said to myself, “Check Ebay!”. So I did, and I found this very machine for just $99!!!!!! I was excited. I was elated. I wanted to do backflips! I hit my dougie. I bodyrolled intensely. I finally found this food processor for the super low!

As quickly as I began to celebrate, I came down off my frugal high when I saw the fine print. I wiped the smile off my face when I saw that this machine was being sold for just $99, and in one color.

One dreadful color.

Pink.

Pink????????

You mean to tell me that if I want this amazing food processor at this amazing price, I have to buy it in pink?

Oh hell no…

I had a two-day conversation with myself as to whether or not I should buy this machine…in pink. Did I really want it badly enough to buy it in *gag* pink?? Why does it have to be in pink?? I hate pink. Well, I don’t hate it, but it’s definitely NOT a color I’d pick for kitchen appliances. Pink kitchen appliances just scream “I believe in fairytale marriages, The Easter Bunny, and I read everything Oprah tells me to read”. I’m kidding lol. But seriously, pink appliances just aren’t for me, no shade if you love them. If you love pink appliances, strut your stuff! Rock your pink toaster. I just personally despise the color in the kitchen.

What to do? I needed this machine — literally. I needed it for dinner lol. I had to have it and I knew I wouldn’t find it online any time soon for this price. So I had to tuck my lady-balls, swallow my pride and buy this pink son of a bitch.

I officially refer to this ugly food processor as a “pink nightmare”. I’ll hopefully get over the color and the shady cause behind it, and just enjoy it for being so great and making me break all of my rules just to have it in my possession. I’ve never really caved like this before, I’m very much the “stick to my guns” type. But sometimes you have to know when to fold’em. I didn’t hate myself in the morning, so maybe it’s not as bad as I thought lol 😉

So without further ado, I present to you my brand new ugly necessity…The Pink Nightmare *applause*

Pink Kitchenaid 750 12-cup Food Processor
I can’t lie, after I snapped this photo I prayed “Hopefully they’ve sent me a white one by accident“…I prayed hard as I sliced the tape away.

Pink Kitchenaid 750 12-cup Food Processor
Prayers unanswered. Womp LOL! Then I said to myself, “Well maybe they accidentally put a white machine in a pink box”.

Pink Kitchenaid 750 12-cup Food Processor
Damn! Prayers unanswered again LMAO!

Pink Kitchenaid 750 12-cup Food Processor
This mothersucker really is pink…well I’ll be damned. It’s kinda cute though. I immediately want ice cream when I look at it.

Pink Kitchenaid 750 12-cup Food Processor
Kinda retro, yet goes with absolutely nothing in my kitchen. But guess what? I’m going to use the hell out of this machine with no shame.

Pink Kitchenaid 750 12-cup Food Processor
It’s got a mini-4cup prep bowl for smaller jobs, a continuous feed tube that doesn’t require you to chop food into smaller chunks like the newer version of this model. That was what really sold me on this machine. I didn’t want to have to do any additional work, that’s why I wanted a better food processor — to make my life easier lol.

Then you get different shredding blades and dough blades and a case to keep them all in. Nice.

Despite my personal reservations about the color, this machine will bring me much joy in the kitchen and that’s really all that matters. I may even grow to love my Pink Nightmare, I kinda already do 😉

LOL. You should really think about creative writing. This article was funny as hell. Maybe writing novels could be your next thingy. Luv your recipes! Can’t believe I’ve never found this site before now.

This is over 4 years later, I found this blog when I was SEARCHING for a pink KitchenAid food processor! ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a grape purple KitchenAid stand mixer because they’d discontinued the lavender color that went with my Corelle Shadow Iris dishes that incidentally has a pink ribbon stripe in them about this shade of pink. I’d really prefer more of a Barbie pink but pink is pink. I absolutely loved the grape purple color and decided to just get it. Pretty color that made me happy and it would be out on the counter at all times.

I did later get the pink KA handheld mixer, lots of pink or purple KA tools like spatula, whisk, measuring cups and spoons and just recently, the tiny pink KA food processor because it IS pink! ๐Ÿ™‚ Actually, like what it does to chopping nuts better than the small inner bowl with my white KA Food Processor that was a gift. I’d love to trade you but you’ve got a little bit bigger one with lots of extras I don’t have.

Oh and I got the KA blender when my other cheap one died, LOVE that sucker, never had such a good one. But, I got red, if I was going to spend that much, I did NOT want white and pink wasn’t an option at the time.

It’s actually v cute. When you said a pink nightmare I was expecting a hot pink mess but it’s pretty neutral and cute. I don’t personally like pink either but this one I could stand. lol

  4. freddyo says:

You should see my vaccuum cleaner. Same deal but I figure its an orek, so you can’t go wrong. Got it for basically half price. Most of the time it is just in the closet anyway

  5. Dijah says:

Man i thought this joint was gonna be a ugly ass pink, instead I see baby pink…it’s not THAT ugly Resha!

Keep telling yourself you’re cooking for a cure, like the box states lol

  6. Gee says:

I want a pink one SO bad, but they are over $400 here in Sweden.

  7. N'jaila says:

I have almost all the pink kitchen aid products for my kitchen. Its my frist apartment. I was living with my brother before and then a friend who had black and grey EVERYTHING. I like the fact that its such a happy color.

Its my frist food processor and I have to say I love it. I can mince a whole garlic in 8 secs. they also have a 49 dollar version that doesn’t come with the little cup or the tray.

  8. Elle of Chellbellz says:

Totally thought this story would be about getting a broken processor since it was from ebay. Haha, i’m glad it was just over the color. I like Pink but the only thing that i can imagine getting in pink is that kitchenaid standing mixer for breast cancer! I like it but i’m scared of it’s glass bowl.

  9. Brooklyn says:

I have a pink 5 quart Kitchenaid mixer that I love. You’ll get used to it and then one day you’ll love the color so much that you’ll start giving the stink eye to your other appliances.

  10. K. Rock says:

It would be a nightmare to me too honestly. BUT it will get the job done and that’s all that matters right?

  11. Fee says:

LMFAO @ your food processor story.

  12. GP says:

Well.. you can say you REALLY REALLY support breast cancer research. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Ms Fefe says:

Resha! You are making me feel bad about my color choice. I have EVERYTHING that KitchenAid makes in pink, except for this sucker and the blender. I buy every damn thing in pink. Mind you, it’s all sitting in boxes in my garage until I move out and get my own super duper cool spot but hey… Who’s judging? I wasn’t sure if I needed this or a blender to be honest. I don’t really cook but I love to bake. Once I move out, I know I’ll be trying recipes from your site every day though. Hmm.. I like the pink nightmare ๐Ÿ˜€

  14. Kgchrissy says:

It’s not that bad. Have you thought about painting it. There’s this spray paint that’s good for appliances.

    • Resha says:

LOL Nah, I’m gonna just leave it as it is. I panicked before it arrived but you’re right, it’s not that bad…and I used it tonite for pizza dough and it’s perfection. I’m very happy and have grown to love the ugly color ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Cie says:

OMG I absolutely love it. I have a pink Brita pitcher and if I wasnt a college student I’d have so much more pink. lol. By the way, your spicy sour cream and mac and chesse v. 1 has added 5 pounds.

  16. Doesn’t look bad at all. At least you’re cooking for the cure ๐Ÿ™‚ I like black and chrome appliances. I bought a red blender and sort of kind of hated it. So I borrowed (with little intentions of returning) my grandma’s black and chrome blender. I don’t think I’ll do colors anymore.
